Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

I was completely shocked last week when I discovered that Tescos had started to sell fresh horseradish root. I was so pleased that I went and thanked customer services in the hope that this would mean that they wouldn't suddendly discontinue it! It is so much nicer than shop bought horseradish and is delicious simply grated over a steak or salmon. Last night I used it to make my own creamed horseradish by mixing 2 tbsp of creme fraiche, 2 tablespoons of finely grated horseradish root, 1 spring onion finely chopped and a small squeeze of lemon juice. Mix everything together and season well with salt and pepper. We both agreed that this was absolutely delicious and far better than any shop bought horseradish we had ever had!

Hi,
I found your blog from our friend PG at 'Middle of Nowhere', and, as i LOVE food it looked quite interesting!
A few years ago i dug up some horseradish from a friend's garden, and made sauce with it, It was brilliant, but i have never found any since.
We (me and my Mum) have a blog with my jewellery on it. Check it out!

I'll have to try and grow some, although I haven't seen any plants over here in Australia for a while now. Maybe it's out of season. Certainly not sold fresh in any local shops or markets over here.As I'm the only one in my household that will eat it, I usually resort to small jars of horseradish cream from the supermarket.My Mum always told me that fresh was best.I was born in Tunbridge Wells, Kent and have been over here now since 1969.

I love horseradish and am so envious you can buy fresh in your supermarket!

My mother and I have just finished watching the 2007 final of MasterChef. We loved the show and were particularly impressed with your adventurous way with flavour. We thought you accepted the judges's decision so gracefully and were sorry that you weren't the winner.

We'll be following your blog and will certainly be looking out for a copy of your book when it's published.
