Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

What an assortment of goodies! What are those really curly green things? They kind of look like cucumbers, but then again, they don't!

Yes, what are the green snake veg? Did you taste them?

I love those huge bamboo baskets - I've got some smaller bamboo "cloches" which are very usefull (I think they are really vietnamese chicken coops), but those giant ones would be perfect to protect the veg from pigeons (and hens!).

I think the green curly beans are a variety of snake bean - we sadly didn't get to try them but they looked wonderful! They guide wasn't sure what they were called in English. There were so many unusual fruit and veg in the market that I have never seen before. It was inspiring and I was longing to buy it all and try to cook with it!

I never thought of the Celia - I wish I had shipped some back for our garden now to keep the peacocks off - mind you they were trying to come in through the catflap yesterday so I have a feeling they would have found a way to tip the baskets over and eat the produce beneath!

Glad you like the pictures Gloria and thanks for the lovely post you put on Steven's website - I am really looking forward to seeing him this evening and we are off to judge a cookery competition tomorrow which will be lots of fun I hope!
