Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

There must be something about our fence this week that is attracting birds - first the woodpecker (who I have sadly not seen since) and now this glorious pheasant. Before we lived in the countryside I had no idea of how beautiful they were - this one has touches of leopard spots and tiger stripes in its feathers. We are lucky enough to have some rare white pheasant in our village although I do not get to see them very often! As it is the shooting season I feed the pheasants in my garden to try and persuade them to stay here where it is safe!

They are just so beautiful! I live on the edge of town and very often we see some in the garden or in the fields. Hannah, I made the tomato sauce last night to freeze - it is really yummy - thank you for sharing the recipe!

What a beautiful bird! Good for you, trying to keep them safe! I like eating pheasant, but I'd want to save them too.

Beautiful picture Hannah! We get alot of pheasants here as well. They are quite pleasant birds to share your surroundings with, unlike the peacocks from down the hill that wander up here on occasion. They are loud and get on my nerves!

This has to be one of Britain's most beautiful birds. I am always impressed when I see one in the wild.
Build it a hideaway Hannah.

His tail feathers would be lovely on a nice winter hat, very Camilla Parker Bowles. Just been reading your blog and it's cheered me so much. Miss you and see you soon, Steve. XX
