Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

It's snowing here (the first picture was taken just a few minutes ago in our garden) - it is just so pretty and Christmassy! My car got stuck in the lane and I had to be dug out by a very kind neighbour. So now our cars are parked up in the village so that we do not get stranded like last February. There is nothing for it but to sit by the log fire, drinking tea and wrapping Christmas presents! Heaven!

Simply beautiful, Hannah. We are getting snow and ice in Greeville later on today--but we will end up with the ugly stuff as always--ice!!

Best
Tracy :)

Oooh - your garden looks just like Narnia! Is there a lamp post in it, by any chance?

No snow here -- when it is not raining it is boiling hot as the 'Barmy army' are finding out at the cricket!! I have a question - regarding meringue - I want to make little Christmas trees
for our pudding using the baked Alaska principal. A round of Xmas cake base, cone of icecream then cover with the meringue. Should I make a syrup with the sugar then add to the beaten egg whites for this type of meringue, and if so what are the proportions.
