Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

We are getting excited as we have ordered a shepherd's hut for our garden and it is due to arrive soon. Actually it was due to come before Christmas but work stopped due to all the snow. It has a little log stove and a bed that I have been busy making a cushion for and will be the perfect place to read or write books or for camping out in. As soon as it arrives we are having a hut warming party (with mulled wine and hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows) and I have just ordered some lovely paper flower bunting to decorate the hut with for the party - so pretty! (from thelastdetail.co.uk in case you want some too - click here paper flower bunting for a link) Now all we need is for the hut to arrive!!!!!!!

Oh lucky you! now you can hunt around the second hand shops for perfect vintage accessories for the hut :-)

Can't think of a nicer place to sit and knit.

There was a fab article about shepherd's huts in the Times Mag a few weeks back and I've wanted one (complete with Welsh blankets, fairy lights and a stove) ever since.
I'm so jealous!

Hi Hannah, we moved to a house when I was 6 that had an original shepherd's hut still in situ in the paddock - how we loved it, slept out in it most summers (no mod cons or decorations in the 70's though) and how I hated to leave it. It was left to disintegrate & finally collapse by the new owners :-( How wonderful to think that you'll have one and make it beautiful & enjoy it like we did all those years ago. Can't wait to see pictures!! xox Rachel

Just gorgeous. I have a little playhouse in the garden for my daughter, but actually got it long before she arrived! It was my 'quiet place' where I went to read or listen to rain thrashing down. It has a name - Gingerbread House. :O) I think whimsical touches to the garden are lovely.

So nice to find you have a blog. I love your recipes in Country Kitchen, I always buy it.

Apologies for 'following' you twice, but I have two separate blogs and different accounts. It's easier to join twice so I can see when you update wherever I'm signed in.

Hope your week is going well.

Sadie :o)

We have a little over three acres and there is this little bit of land to the back of the property that this would be lovely addition. I've been looking for something to place in that area. I live in the southeast part of Louisiana so I will have to really start hunting are commission one to be built. Thanks for all your inspirations.

Thank you for all your lovely comments! We have been told it should arrive in the next two weeks and I will of course post pictures. It is being painted inside and out and we have been busy finding things to put inside.

I had a quick look on the internet but can't find any in the USA sadly - a possible gap in the market.

Nick Haywood who is making ours is very accommodating - perhaps he might be able to ship one over, although I imagine the shipping costs would be huge.
