Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

Although I have spent the whole weekend trying to finish the book for my Wednesday deadline (nearly there!!!), I managed to fit in a little baking this weekend as it was Joshua's birthday. Panda Bear cupcakes (from Hello Cupcake) which Josh had seen and fallen in love with (Panda's are his favourite thing) and a Power Ranger cake as this was the theme of his party. Here are Wonder Woman and Supergirl in full party spirit and Birthday boy Joshua with his mum Jess playing pin the cupcake on the panda - Jess' creative game inspired by the panda cupcakes!

Super Heroes Rule! My son loved Power Rangers too! When he was about 8, he met the actor who played the original Red Ranger at a karate tournament and had his picture taken with him - he was in heaven!

He is almost 12 now, and though it isn't cool anymore, I think he secretly still likes them...

The panda cupcakes are adorable!

The Panda's are absolutely fantastic. Do you think it'd be silly if I wanted them for my 31st birthday?

Thanks for all your lovely messages - Jess read Josh your birthday wishes and he was very excited.

Sylvia - 31 is a perfect age for Panda Cupcakes. They were easy to do - just cover a large muffin in white icing and cover with oreo cookie crumbs, use an oreo cut in half for the arms. Cover a smaller mini muffin with the buttercream, place a mini marshmallow in the centre and cover with a little more icing to make the nose - decorate with a black icing gel pen for the eyes and mouth, a small chocolate for the nose and two chocolate wheetos for the ears! And there you have it!
