Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

Summer visitors to our garden

Very good news - two ducks that used to live in our garden have returned! The disappeared a year ago and we feared the fox had taken them but as I was in the kitchen this weekend I heard quacking outside the window and there they were, calling for scraps, just as if they had never gone away! How I would love to know where they have been all this time - perhaps in sunnier climes! The rabbits that live in the surrounding woodland are getting bolder and are now often found on the lawn outside our patio. This may have a direct corrolation with the fact that the grass has not been cut and is therefore providing them with a luscious feast! It is nice to have such good company when I am working from home!

How lovely it is to be able to work from home. I'm also this lucky and have peacocks, geese, ducks and a other wildlife visiting and chirping away in the background.

Hi Hannah

We have two or sometimes 3 ducks appearing every year this time. Don't know where they live other times.

As I've mentioned before, I absolutely love ducks!

In my yard I have a large variety of birds, rabbits, toads, the ubiquitous squirrels (who I am not pleased with this summer, as they eat all of the bird seed), possum, moles, bats, deer and the occasional skunk and raccoon...but nothing as exotic as peacocks or donkeys!

We have a lot of bunnies in our garden too. It's so lovely to see them. They munch on the clover in the grass and unfortunately they have taken a strong liking to our snap dragons as well, as they have dissappeared!
