My mum is flying to America tomorrow to visit my brother for the first time since he moved there. My Mum is very, very scared of flying so this is a HUGE deal for her. I know that once she is there, she will have the best time ever and I have given her a long list of places to visit (mainly involving cake or cook shops - together with a list of things to buy for me!!!) Good luck Mum - you will love New York!
Mike recently sent through these photos of him and Mum working on their allotment setting potatoes - they even have a proper tractor! It is such a lot of work for them both but I think they enjoy it and we certainly benefit with lots of free vegetables! Roll on summer!

ReplyDeleteHuge Allotment, that! Keith used to have 3 council ones but even they didn't amount to enough to warrant a tractor. He did use a rotavator once he had worked out how to walk behind it without chopping his toes off!

Not really a comment about this post- but a question... what is castor sugar?
ReplyDeleteI'm in the U.S. and we don't have anything called castor sugar. Is that just regular sugar, or superfine sugar?
Also- is icing sugar what we call powdered sugar?

ReplyDeleteKikilia - we have three types of white sugar for baking here in the UK. Granluated which is regular sugar, quite a coarse grain. Caster sugar is a finer granulated sugar which I think must be your superfine.
Icing sugar must be your powdered sugar - it is dusty and not granulated and if you mix it with water you get icing. Hope this helps
