Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

Second only to cooking, sewing is my passion - one shared by the other members of our village sewing circle "stitch and bitch" and lovely Susan from my old work. Every year my mum's birthday present is a sampler and this is the one she received at the weekend - I know it's Christmassy in June but it means that she can put it up at the beginning of December (logical in my view)! Throughout Masterchef I was sewing a sampler for my friend Jess and it has a lot of memories sewn into it having been stitched in Cyprus and Paris and at the studio!

I thought this morning that I would post a few of the samplers I have made in the last year - an online exhibition for you!

Simply wonderful, I adore the red ones - no wonder you were so good at doing the fiddly little puddings in the finals of master Chef!

Gosh Hannah, you're so talented! Scrummy food, beautiful cakes and exquisite samplers.

I've been reading your blog for ages just wanted to pop up and say hello.

Take Care

These are absolutly delightful, I love the red ones. Do you use a kit or make up your own designs?

I have been reading your blog for a few months and really enjoy it! I also love to sew and bake, but don't do as much as you. I love these samplers. Everyone is saying they like the red ones by I love the one you made your mother and the other similar one. I think I especially love the lacey look. Is that embroidered?

Hi Ferne
The lacey effect is drawn thread work - these samplers are from www.victoriasampler.com - the instructions are really easy to do - you basically remove one thread and then cut the next thread in half and reweave into the gap - this sounds really complicated but I managed to do it from their instructions and if I can, anyone can! Not sure where you are based but I get all my sewing stash from www.silverneedle.biz in the states who package everything really nicely and post it over to the UK - with the $ rate so high at the moment it is much cheaper than buying the kits here!
Hope this helps Hannah
