Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

Sunday was Open Farm Day at Brown's Farm in Stagsden. Open Farm Day is a wonderful initiative, getting people into the countryside and showing where crops and meat come from.
Peter the farm butcher gave a demonstration on butchery and I followed him with a demonstration of some nice lamb recipes (using the cuts Peter had prepared in his demo) and summer salads. There was not a scrap left of the food I cooked so I think it was well received. Wonderful stalls selling local cider, home made fudge, Rosie Pea came along and had her face painted as a tiger (very cute) and farm walks through the crops. All in all it was a lovely day.

Looks a lovely day Hannah! I love these country fair types of activities and demonstrations. Britian does it better than any other place I know!

It looks like it was a lovely event - how lucky you are to have participated. I enjoy a visit to the farm any chance I get.

Had grilled lamb for dinner this weekend - first time in ages, yum.
