I am often asked where my love of cooking came from and sorting through some boxes of my old belongings at my Dad's on Father's Day gave me the answer. These were my two first cook books! And one even had an ice cream sundae Knickerbocker Glory in! See - it was destiny! It was so lovely to find these old books - I remember loving them as a child, particularly the teddy bear one. What a nice trip down memory lane!

  1. Hannah - I had the Learn to Cook book as well - how fantastic to see it again. I had completely forgotten it - such amazingly 70's styling.

Thanks - that has really cheered me up.

  2. In the late '70s my sister and I used to make knickerbockerglories for our (joint) birthday parties, with help from mum, of course.

    Perhaps from a similar book!

    Happy memories!

  6. I LOVED the Funb-to-cook-book which is very much like the one you have photographed.

It took a year or so to remember what the title was as my mum and I couldn't remember.

I will buy it once its not too expensive. Such a lovely memory.

  7. OH! I had and still have the knickerbocker glory book but sadly did not least enjoy my first attempt so it nearly put me off! My preferred book, which I still use with my son, was Margaret Powell's 'Sweet making for Children'. Superb! Lovely post! t.x
