Welcome

Reaching the final of Masterchef 2007 was a rollercoaster of emotion, with huge highs and lows, but I loved every minute and learnt a huge amount. I owe a great deal to John and Gregg who had faith in my ability when I did not believe in myself. Since competing on the programme my life has changed considerably. I now write cookery columns for two magazines, give cookery demonstrations and am just working on my 13th cook book - unlucky number for some but not for me!!! I love all forms of country cooking, using seasonal and locally sourced produce. This blog is to enable me to share with you a few of my recipes and baking ideas. Enjoy Hannah xxxx

I do love my Aga but, being over 80 years old, it can be temperamental and this week it has gone on strike. Sadly the result is no real cooking in our house as our only alternative means of cooking are the BBQ (not great in this weather) and a microwave. Luckily the engineer is here at the moment fixing it so hopefully by this evening it will be working again and boiling a kettle will take less than the 25 minutes it was taking earlier in the week! Hopefully you will allow me to use this as a valid excuse for not posting a recipe today!

Does the Aga-man know that the patient is a "celebrity-aga" ?

Poor you. My Aga (not quite as old as yours, but older than me) is on strike, and I am thinking of having it out, replacing it with a woodburning stove with oven. Racked with indecision, all the family furious with me, as it is the principle means of heating our kitchen, which is the only room we use daily ...

Hope it all comes right soon

Haha, I know how temperamental AGA's can be as we have a huge one up at the big house and oddly enough it has been on the blink this week as well. The AGA man was there yesterday to fix it though so hopefully things are back to normal today! I would love to have my very own down here in the cottage . . .

Wow, I thought my Rayburn was a wonder at 50 years old.
